Throughout the month you will have 8 tasks that will be unlocked one by one. Upon completing each task, you will receive a trophy with a reward and if you complete all of them you will get a unique player icon in the game.

Here's some background on Richard Winters: After landing in Normandy, he led his squad of 13 paratroopers to take on German artillery crews shelling Utah Beach. His team not only defeated the enemy forces at the Battle of Brecourt Manor, but also mapped out other artillery batteries in the area. This operation is cited to this day as an example of a skillful tactical attack by a small formation against fixed enemy positions.
