Reginald Mitchel was a British-born aircraft designer who created 24 aircraft, including the fastest seaplanes of the day. Thanks to his work with them he was awarded the CBE. At just 38 years old, he led the development of the Supermarine Spitfire, which became a legend and symbol of the Royal Air Force during World War II.
